Add the udon noodles and cook for 10 minutes. JIGOKU-DAKI - Hot Udon Served from the Pot This traditional Goto-style dish is enjoyed straight from the cooking pot. Place the pot on a heat-resistant trivet at the table, keeping the noodles in the hot cooking water. Lift out the noodles with chopsticks, dip them into your favorite sauce, and enjoy. Suggested Dipping Sauces Traditionally, the egg dipping sauce is made with a raw egg mixed with mentsuyu (Japanese noodle dipping sauce) or soy sauce. For those who prefer a cooked egg, try a soft-boiled egg instead. This variation was enjoyed by international visitors at our tasting events. You can also prepare ago-dashi (flying fish soup stock) according to its package instructions and add chopped green onion and ginger. For an event-inspired variation, add a little chili pepper and olive oil to your dipping sauce. CHILLED UDON 1. Cook the noodles for 10 minutes, then rinse under cold water to cool them. 2. Fill a bowl with ice and cold water. 3. Place the noodles in the ice water and gently rub and rinse them until chilled. 4. Drain well and arrange on a serving plate or bamboo tray. Enjoy with mentsuyu, your favorite dressing mixed with a little soy sauce, or another dipping sauce of your choice. Dilute concentrated mentsuyu according to its package instructions. HOT UDON IN BROTH 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. 2. Use some of the hot water to prepare ago-dashi broth in a serving bowl, following the soup stock's package instructions. 3. Cook the noodles in the remaining boiling water for 10 minutes. 4. Drain without rinsing and place the noodles in the prepared broth. 5. Add your favorite garnishes and enjoy hot. Ago-dashi adds a delicious savory flavor to both broth and dipping sauces. PRODUCT INFORMATION This product contains udon noodles only. Soup stock, dipping sauces, eggs, and other toppings are not included. Noodle allergens: Wheat and soy. Please also check the allergen information on any sauces, soup stock, or toppings you use.
